Earthquake in Jakarta: all 650 students safe

JAKARTA October 16 - All 650 Malaysian students in several universities in Jakarta confirmed safe in an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale that struck the capital of Indonesia is at 4:52 pm local time Friday.

Walaupunnya only about a minute but most Malaysian students felt the earthquake shaking and rushed out the house or building in which they are to save themselves, because concerned stricken ruins.

Malaysian Students Department director Datuk Dr Junaidi in Indonesia, Abu Bakar told Bernama that the embassy immediately contacted leaders of student groups and Malaysia have all the confirmation they are in safe.

Reported the incident when officials at the Embassy of Malaysia who are here and meet other staff also immediately run out because the building was shaking earthquake felt very strong.

No full report of property damage or injury and loss of life caused by the earthquake, except for two classes at a school in Ujong Kulon, around the epicenter was reportedly collapsed.
